What does it mean to create a heart-centred business?

With it being Valentine’s Day this week I have had love on the brain :) Or maybe that’s just my social media feed making me think I have…!

A big part of my coaching work is helping mums who want to do something purposeful with their working life (outside the parenting role). Sometimes this means they are looking to create a business they feel passionate about.

Which got me thinking about the idea of creating a heart-centred business.

Before exploring what it means to create a heart-centred business, let’s consider: what does being heart-centred even mean?

For me, being heart-centred means living a life which is guided by our true values & our higher purpose. Where we are being true to ourselves - our beliefs, our wisdom, our intuition - and making choices that honour this.

It also means showing up with love and compassion (which comes much more easily when we are being true to ourselves).

When it comes to running a heart-centred business, then these aspects are going to be reflected.

Things that will make a business stand out as heart-centred:

  • It is purpose led - it has a clear WHY - a clear purpose and mission which is really about making the world - and those that live in it - better in some way

  • The way it operates put values like caring for people at the forefront

  • Relationships matter - not just profit margin

  • You show up authentically

What do you think of when you think of being heart-centred in work and in life?

One caveat: sometimes, putting yourself out there as being a heart-centred business may mean you are shying away from making a profit, from allowing yourself to pursue money. I want to mention this as, for women especially, we can face a lot of resistance to the idea of wanting to make a lot of money (money shadow is a real thing). Whilst it is important to recognise that all profit and no heart makes for a pretty empty feeling, swinging in completely the opposite direction is also going to make keeping that business going almost impossible.

It is my belief that you can run a business that is heart-centred AND profitable. Navigating and honouring both is key.

Are you looking to create a heart-centred business? Or want to become more heart-centred in your life?

If the answer is yes, and you’re not sure where to start, a good place is to consider : what are my values? What 3 things do I stand for?

Then consider: how are these being honoured in my life right now? If not at all, that’s okay! Now you have the perfect place to start :)

I would love to know what you are looking to create.

Wishing you a weekend filled with love - for yourself & all those you are connected to.
